Late winner seals England's place

England 1-0 Sweden A last-gasp Dexter Blackstock goal ensures England qualify with a game to spare.

A last-minute strike from substitute Dexter Blackstock booked England a place in July's UEFA European Under-19 Championship final round with one Elite round Group 1 game to spare.

Decisive draw
Both these sides had won their opening games on Saturday, with England overcoming Denmark 1-0 and Sweden claiming a 5-0 victory against Moldova. Moldova held Denmark to a 1-1 draw in tonight's other game in Morecambe, meaning Martin Hunter's England cannot now be caught even if they lose to the former Soviet republic on Wednesday. Even if a winner emerges from the Sweden-Denmark encounter the same evening, the group hosts would still be top on head-to-head record.

Hansson beaten
England had the better of the first 45 minutes, but could not find a way past Sweden goalkeeper Pär Hansson. Ryan Jarvis was denied by a superb Hansson save on 70 minutes, but with time running out Will Hoskins, who had only been introduced three minutes earlier, crossed for fellow replacement Blackstock to strike past Hansson.

'I was delighted'
Hunter told TheFA.com: "These boys deserve the chance to play in the European Championships and we will be as thoroughly professional against Moldova as we have been so far. This team has had a track record of conceding goals, so I was delighted with this performance and keeping a clean sheet."

Bury encounter
After meeting Moldova in Blackpool, Hunter's side begin their preparations for the finals in Northern Ireland - with the draw in Belfast on 3 June and the competition running from 18-29 July.
