Norway begin with a win

Two goals in ten second-half minutes earned Norway an opening victory in UEFA European Under-19 Championship Elite round Group 6 against a determined Lithuania side in Moscow.

At the Spartak stadium, Saulius Vertelis's Lithuanian side held firm for an hour, only for Vidar Nisja to finally break their resistance in the 60th minute. The victory was effectively secured for Tor Ole Skullerund's side nine minutes later, striker Karim Aoudia doubling their lead.

Crucial fixture
With Ukraine defeating mini-tournament hosts Russia 1-0 in today's other game in the section, Friday's second round of matches pits Norway against the Ukrainians, a match that could well decide which team progresses to this summer's final tournament in Northern Ireland. Lithuania, meanwhile, play the Russians the same day.
