Article body
Volpato opener
Having lost 4-1 to Belgium on Matchday 1, Hungary needed a win today to realistically stay in the running for a place in Northern Ireland in July. But Italy, held 0-0 by Armenia on Wednesday, took just seven minutes to go ahead in Zalaegerszeg through Rey Volpato.
Another clean sheet
Hungary's hopes were hit further when László Miskolczi received a straight red card on 54 minutes, and two minutes later Andrea De Falco doubled Italy's lead. Defender Andrea Costa completed the scoring 17 minutes from time, as Italy made it five games out of five in the 2004/05 U19 tournament without conceding a goal.
Pole position
Thanks to Armenia's 1-0 win against Belgium today, Italy are top on goal difference. A victory versus Belgium on Tuesday in Andrashida would take Paolo Berrettini's team through unless Armenia overcome Hungary and overhaul their goal difference. Draws in both matches would also take Italy into Friday's finals draw in Belfast. Hungary will finish fourth whatever their result against Armenia.
