Article body
Turkey progressed to the UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament after completing their Group 2 campaign with a 2-1 win against hosts Slovakia in Trnava.
Parlak double
With both sides on six points going in tho the game, a crowd of 1,800 did their best to urge the home team on but with key players Antonin Koncitík and Patrik Mráz suspended, Slovakia found the group favourites too hot to handle. The impressive Ilhan Parlak opened the scoring in the third minute and, although Ľubomír Hanzel equalised just eight minutes later, the same player found the net again midway through the first half to take Turkey into the finals in Poland in July.
Classy opposition
"Turkey have a great record in youth competition in recent years which shows that they have really top players," said Slovakia coach Stanislav Baran. "We wish them every success in Poland while we start to build a new team here. There are four players who can still play next season." Slovakia finished as group runners-up with six points.
