Article body
Spain will face a Group 7 showdown with Germany after winning 8-1 against Cyprus in Sunday evening's game at the Vicente Garcia stadium.
Goal flurry
Cyprus managed to hold out against Ginés Meléndez's side for 15 minutes in Torrevieja before Juan Mata opened the scoring, and from then on it was one-way traffic. Mario Suárez and Alberto Bueno Calvo scored twice each before Mata got his second and Marc Pedraza and Esteban Granero Molina completed Spain's tally.
Cyprus consolation
Andreas Avraam pulled a goal back for Cyprus after the Spanish defence had been unable to clear. With Germany having also won both of their Elite round games, the two sides will play off in their final Group 7 game on 30 May with Spain needing only a point to be sure of a place in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals in Poznan.
