Article body
Erwin Hoffer's goals on Sunday night took Austria into the UEFA European Under-19 Championship semi-finals, and the striker up to second in the scoring table for the finals.
Semi-final suspension
The SK Rapid Wien forward maintained his record of scoring in every group game by striking twice in a 4-1 win against Belgium to move on to four goals in Poland. More relevantly, it helped Austria clinch second place in the section and a semi-final meeting with Spain, although Hoffer is suspended for that game on Wednesday. Turkey's İlhan Parlak still leads the way with five goals, but failed to find the net against Scotland and faces a week of waiting to discover if he will hang on to top spot.
Strestik strikes again
Czech Republic midfielder Marek Strestik moved on to three goals with the opener in the 2-0 defeat of hosts Poland and joins four other players on that mark including Portugal's Bruno Gama, whose penalty against Spain was not enough to keep his team in the competition. Of the seven players on two goals, meanwhile, only Spanish pair Alberto Bueno and Gerard Piqué, Scotland's Steven Fletcher and Czech forward Martin Fenin will have the chance to improve their standing this week.
