Gludovatz hails Polish support

Group A reaction: Austria coach Paul Gludovatz enjoyed the "great atmosphere" in Poznan, while Belgium's Marc Van Geersom was also celebrating.

Austria coach Paul Gludovatz was happy to leave thinking about his side's forthcoming games until "after breakfast" following last night's opening Group A victory against hosts Poland in front of 15,000 spectators in Poznan. Belgian counterpart Marc Van Geersom was similarly delighted after his team opened their UEFA European Under-19 Championship account with a comfortable 4-2 success against the Czech Republic. uefa.com collects the reaction.

POLAND 0-1 AUSTRIA
MichaƂ Globisz, Poland coach

The crowd were great, constantly urging us on, and we tried to give them the win they deserved but simply did not have the ability to do so. We tried to fight and to play as a team but there weren't many positives. Mariusz Sacha played well after coming on in the second half but overall, I know what individuals can do on the pitch and in terms of skill, they are behind the Austrians. The mistakes we made tonight, we've made before - it was expected.

Paul Gludovatz, Austria coach
It was a really tough game and it's a good start but no more. We have two more tough games coming up over the next few days - this was just the first of three parts. Poland were very good, very strong defensively, and it's never easy to play the host team. There was a great atmosphere here tonight. I've been coaching at youth level with the Austrian Football Association for 20 years but this is the first time I've ever played in front of 15,000 fans. My assistant coach was at the Czech-Belgium game tonight so I'll hear about them after breakfast. Not before though - I've had enough for one day.

BELGIUM 4-2 CZECH REPUBLIC
Marc Van Geersom, Belgium coach

I'm delighted that we managed to score four and that they went in so easily. The players showed that they have the ability to score and I think we can only improve in the future. The crucial moment was the goal that made it 3-1, effectively killing the game off. We were controlling the play so I was able to make a few tactical changes, taking off an attacker and bringing on another defender to slow the pace of the game. It was always my objective as it was very hot today - that was not footballing weather.

Miroslav Soukup, Czech Republic coach
We made four mistakes and conceded four goals; we were prepared for Belgium but they were just too strong for us on the day. Our defence didn't play like they were supposed to, and we have to fix that before the next game. I don't want to single out one or two players, and on Wednesday we will talk about the game, try to look at the good points and correct the mistakes.
