Norway and Portugal eased through from UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round Group 11 with a match to spare and both ended unbeaten.
Hosts happy
On home territory in Oslo, Tor Ole Skullerund's Norway opened with a 5-0 win against San Marino at the Nadderud Stadium. Tarik Elyounoussi took four minutes to open the scoring and just after the half-hour Jonathan Parr added a second. Elyounoussi made it three on 50 minutes before Glenn Roberts struck twice, while Raffaele Carlini and Matteo Vitaioli were both sent off in the final quarter-hour for San Marino after second yellow cards. It was a tighter affair at the Bislett Stadium where only a 47th-minute Fábio Coentrão goal stood between Portugal and Latvia though Fábio Paím also hit the post.
Duo through
Two days later the top places were confirmed. Latvia suffered another narrow Bislett Stadium defeat, going down 2-1 to Norway. Magnus Lekven and Roberts scored for the home side midway through the first half and although Edgars Gauracs pulled one back on 51 minutes Latvia could not equalise. Portugal, meanwhile, matched Norway's scoreline against San Marino. Rui Pedro opened the scoring on 22 minutes and Ricardo Nogueira immediately made it two at the Nadderud Stadium before completing his hat-trick in the second half with Fábio Coentrão also on target.
Portugal held
Those results meant Norway led Portugal on goals scored, so clinched first place with a 2-2 draw at the Nadderus Stadium. Roberts put Norway ahead in the 24th minute but Fábio Coentrão swiftly equalised with a penalty. Parr struck just after the hour, and although Jorge Monteiro levelled eight minutes from time, the point sufficed for Norway, though both nations are in December's Elite round draw. At the Bislett Stadium Latvia defeated San Marino 5-0 with goals from Aleksandrs Solovjovs, Gauracs, Daniils Turkovs, Jeugenijs Kazura and Igors Tarasovs but cannot go through as the best third-placed team.
