Article body
UEFA European Under-19 Championship holders Spain will take on Uruguay, Jordan and Zambia in the FIFA U-20 World Cup group stage after the draw for this summer's tournament was made in Toronto.
Uruguay opener
Canada will stage the tournament from 30 June and 22 July and Spain, among six European contenders in the 24-team competition, have been drawn in Group B, and will start against Uruguay on 1 July in Burnaby as they attempt to bring the trophy back to this continent for the first time since 1999, when they triumphed in Nigeria. The team beaten by Spain to win the 2006 European U19 title in Poland, Scotland, will made their first bid for the global crown against Japan, Nigeria and Costa Rica in Group F.
Czechs face holders
The Czech Republic have been given perhaps the toughest task on the opening day, as they will meet holders Argentina before meeting Korea DPR and Panama in Group E. Austria will play hosts Canada in Edmonton on 5 July; before that they open their Group A bid against Congo and also face Chile. Portugal, the only European nation to win this trophy twice, are in Group C against New Zealand, 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup winners Mexico and Gambia.
Poland meet Brazil
Poland will start their Group D campaign against a Brazil team hoping to equal Argentina's record of five tournament victories. The United States and Korea Republic are also involved in that section, and the top two teams from each group plus the four best third-placed teams will progress to the Round of 16.
