The UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament draw is held in Linz from 18.30 CET tomorrow and UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee chairman Jim Boyce is expecting the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) to put on a superb show.
Well backed
More than 20 sponsors are backing the finals from 16-27 July in Linz, Pasching, Ried and Styer, and the ÖFB are using their first continental youth showpiece since the 1996 UEFA European Under-16 Championship to prepare for UEFA EURO 2008™, which they will jointly stage with Switzerland. That effort begins with the draw and and Boyce is excited about next month’s tournament.
'Tremendous finals'
He will make the draw along with former Austrian international and tournament ambassador Andreas Herzog and Timea Feher, Miss Oberösterreich 2006. Boyce told uefa.com: "I'm told there will be 700 people there in Linz. The Austrian FA have put a tremendous around of work into it and got a lot of sponsorship, I'm looking forward to it. From what I've heard, speaking to the Austrian people, they are determined to make it a tremendous U19 finals."
