Hungary revived their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship for the second year in a row after goals from András Simon and Zsolt Tamasi secured a vital victory against Finland in the second round of matches in Elite round Group 1.

Crucial victory
Having lost 3-2 to Austria on Tuesday, Wilco van Buuren's side knew victory against Finland – who shared a 1-1 draw with mini-tournament hosts Serbia on the opening day – was crucial to keep their hopes alive, and they made the perfect start when Liverpool FC forward Simon opened the scoring after seven minutes, his second goal in as many Elite round games. The lead proved short-lived, however, as Teemu Pukki levelled for Finland eleven minutes later, and it seemed the Scandinavian side were on course for a second successive draw until Tamasi popped up with 16 minutes remaining to score what proved to be the winning goal. Hungary now conclude their qualifying campaign against Serbia on Sunday, when Finland face Austria.
