Billy Stark's side made a winning start to their Elite round Group 6 campaign, coming from a goal down at half-time to overcome Slovakia in Sheffield.
Opportunities spurned
Scotland hit the ground running at Bramall Lane but missed a number of chances and were made to pay for their profligacy when Martin Guldan gave Slovakia the lead from the penalty spot in the 29th minute. The flow of the game continued after the break and the equaliser also came from the penalty spot after 54 minutes, Rangers FC midfielder Stephen Stirling holding his nerve.
Ness winner
Scotland found a second goal midway through the second period when another Rangers player, Jamie Ness, volleyed in from 15 metres to secure victory in their opening match. They now head to Doncaster to face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday, while England provide the opposition for Slovakia in Bradford on the same day.
