Portugal confirmed top spot in UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round Group 8 on home soil with a comfortable final-day win against their only challengers, Norway.

Both sides had already clinched places in the elite round draw as the top two in the section, and Raphael Guzzo and Ivo Rodrigues struck in quick succession just before half-time to give the hosts a 2-0 lead in today's summit meeting. While Alexander Sørloth replied early in the second half, a second goal from SL Benfica prospect Guzzo sealed the Portuguese victory, though Norway's Vajebah Sakor registered late to make it 3-2.

The Scandinavian team had taken their time to get the better of San Marino in their opening game on Thursday, Bård Finne and Eirik Hestad on target at the death in a 2-0 win, but Luxembourg proved less of a match for Portugal, André Silva netting twice in the first period before Rodrigues's 70th-minute penalty capped a 3-0 success.

Hélio Sousa's side then put six without reply past San Marino on Saturday, with Cristian completing his hat-trick two minutes after missing a 74th-minute spot kick. Norway, meanwhile, beat Luxembourg 5-1, with two goals each for Bjørn Utvik and Sørloth. There was to be consolation for Luxembourg on today's last day of action as they thrashed ten-man San Marino 4-0 to take third position.
