Local favourite Therese Sjögran of LdB FC Malmö has been named Sweden's female player of the year at the country's annual football awards ceremony.
The 33-year-old collected the Diamond Ball – awarded by the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) and newspaper Sportbladet – for a second time, having previously triumphed in 2007, after helping LdB FC Malmö to a first Damallsvenskan title in 16 years. "We've had an incredible year at LdB FC," said Sjögran in her acceptance speech at the Malmö Arena. "I'm well over 20 and have finally managed to win a Swedish title; that's an amazing feeling."
