Arena St.Gallen's construction was completed in 2008, with the first match at the ground a 3-0 win for Switzerland's men against Liechtenstein. Perched 652 metres above sea level, it is the highest stadium in Swiss professional football and the fifth largest nationwide. Brazil, Spain and Italy's men's teams have played at the arena, which has also hosted musical greats such as Elton John.
