There were challenges from Sweden, France and Norway, but a Germany team in transition and hit by injury came through once again to clinch a sixth straight European title.

"I haven't really realised what we've achieved," said Germany's match-winning goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, who "deserves all the attention" according to goalscorer Anja Mittag.

Poland coach Zbigniew Witkowski said he believed they could win the Women's Under-17 title "from the beginning" while Patrycja Michalczyk dedicated the victory to the late Irena Półtorak.
