The first round of group stage fixtures at UEFA Women's EURO 2025 are coming up and UEFA.com are offering Fantasy managers assistance when it comes to choosing a captain.
Caroline Graham, Alexia Putellas, Pernille Harder and Vivianne Miedema are four players who warrant serious captaincy consideration on Matchday 1 of #WEUROfantasy, presented by AXA.
WEDNESDAY 2 JULY
Caroline Graham (Switzerland vs NORWAY)
After 16 goals in 37 appearances for Barcelona this season, Graham will be hoping her scoring exploits transition to the international stage. She has already found the net for Norway in 2025 and was key to her country qualifying for Women's EURO, scoring three times in the qualifying play-offs. Norway kick off Group A against tournament hosts Switzerland.
THURSDAY 3 JULY
Alexia Putellas (SPAIN vs Portugal)
Another Barcelona player featuring at Women's EURO 2025, over 60% of Fantasy managers have brought Putellas in their squads ahead of Matchday 1. The Spanish midfielder recorded 22 goals for Barcelona in 2024/25, her highest tally since 2021/22, and has scored twice in her last four appearances in a Spain shirt. After missing out on the last finals in 2022 due to a last-minute injury, Putellas has unfinished business at the Women's EURO, which begins with a blockbuster Matchday 1 contest against Portugal.
FRIDAY 4 JULY
Pernille Harder (DENMARK vs Sweden)
One of the most in-form forwards in Europe over the past year and a reliable scorer for club and country, Harder ticks plenty of captaincy boxes. Across Denmark's UEFA Women’s Nations League group stage campaign this year, she registered four goal involvements across six games. After a club campaign that yielded 23 goals for Bayern München, Denmark's record scorer enters the tournament in brilliant form.
SATURDAY 5 JULY
Vivianne Miedema (Wales vs NETHERLANDS)
Netherlands start Group D with a crucial encounter against debutants Wales, and will be looking to get off to a winning start with England and France lying ahead. Miedema is a key player and has extra motivation to find the net on Matchday 1 as her next goal for her country will bring up 100 international strikes. Having struck twice against Finland in a pre-finals friendly, the stage is set for Miedema to reach her century.
