Women's EURO 2025: England and Spain in final showdown

Matchday 6 fixture

Sunday 27 July
18:00 CET: England vs Spain

Captain

Ella Toone has the highest number of Fantasy points registered by an England player over the course of Women's EURO 2025. The midfielder has two goals, two assists and 27 points over the course of five appearances, including a high score of 13 against Wales on Matchday 3. Toone is a player for the big occasion and found the net in the 2022 final, so her Matchday 6 captaincy credentials stand out leading into the 2025 final.

Toone is not the only England player worthy of consideration for the armband. Lucy Bronze can accumulate points via multiple avenues including clean sheets, ball recoveries and goal involvements. The defender has recorded 12 points already during the knockout stage with a goal and 11 ball recoveries. However, no player set to feature in the final has registered more ball recoveries than the 35 managed by Alex Greenwood, another England defender.

Fantasy managers with an eye on form will be looking at Spain's Aitana Bonmatí following her winning goal against Germany in the semi-finals. The midfielder has now managed a goal involvement in each of her last two starts, earning the Player of the Match award on both occasions.

Popular picks

Not only is Lucy Bronze a serious captaincy option on Matchday 6, the England right-back is also one of the most popular Fantasy players across all positions going into the final. Only Alexia Putellas currently has a higher ownership percentage than Bronze, who is one of three players currently at 70% or more.

Putellas is yet to register a goal involvement in the knockout stage but is still the top-scoring Fantasy player available with three goals, four assists, 16 ball recoveries, two Player of the Match awards and 49 points. Also among the top three highest-owned players is England striker Alessia Russo, who scored in England's last encounter with Spain in the UEFA Women's Nations League earlier this year, while Spain defender Ona Batlle is another to note after her nine-point score in the semi-final win against Germany; she is owned by 36% of Fantasy managers.

England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton is in more than half of all Fantasy squads with only 19% owning her opposite number in the final. Hampton followed up her Player of the Match performance in the quarter-finals with four saves and three points in a 2-1 semi-final win against Italy.

Potential differentials

Cata Coll was highlighted as a potential differential leading up to Matchday 5 and the Spain goalkeeper came through for her limited ownership, making four saves and keeping a second consecutive clean sheet to earn seven Fantasy points.

With four Spain players boasting a higher Fantasy percentage Clàudia Pina is something of a Matchday 6 differential given the limited number of players available for selection. The forward has four goal involvements in the tournament and scored twice off the bench in her side's most recent contest against England, a 2-1 win last month.

England forward Michelle Agyemang has had an equally big impact off the bench in this tournament, scoring crucial goals against Sweden and Italy to force extra time. Another substitute, Chloe Kelly went on to score the winning goal in the semi-final and was named Player of the Match. The pair accumulated five and seven points respectively on Matchday 5 and both could be key Fantasy differentials in the final.

Matchday reminders

• The Matchday 6 deadline to make transfers and select a captain is 18:00 CET on Sunday 27 July.

• Up to five free transfers can be made leading up to the deadline, although Fantasy managers can use their wildcard if still available, which grants them unlimited transfers.

• Fantasy bosses will have only one chance to pick a high-performing captain, so choose wisely!

• Unlike all other Women's EURO 2025 matchdays, Fantasy managers do not have the opportunity to make any substitutes on Matchday 6, so ensure that all your preferred players are in your starting line-up and not on the bench.

• The starting line-ups of both England and Spain will be revealed prior to the Matchday 6 deadline, which can help transfer decisions.
