With stars such as Alexandra Popp and Dzsenifer Marozsán having taken their first steps on the international stage at the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship, a new generation is set to announce itself in 2013/14 and last season's tournament ambassadors cannot wait.
"This shows how much women's football is developing. There's a lot more teams, and the level is improving as well," said former Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Grégory Coupet ahead of this year's newly expanded eight-team finals, which are set to be held outside of Switzerland for the first time, in England in November and December.
"Women's football has developed a lot," added senior Swiss international Martina Moser. "You can spot the young talents a lot earlier, and if you look at the quality of football being played at U17 level then it's really fun to watch too."
