How the teams are separated

uefa.com explains the methods for splitting teams that finish level on points after Group B's final fixtures.

Advantage to top two
Italy and Norway are in the ascendancy with four points, but the two semi-final places on offer could yet go to holders France and Russia, who each have registered a draw and a defeat. The task for the top two is simple - Italy are through if they avoid defeat against France, and likewise a point would be good enough for Norway when they meet Russia.

Head-to-head record
However, if Russia beat Norway, they will go through on head-to-head record provided Italy do not lose. Similarly, assuming Norway avoid defeat, France would pip Italy with a victory.

Goal difference
Goal difference would only come into play if both Russia and France are triumphant. Both would need decisive wins in those cases, as while Italy's goal difference is +4 and Norway's +2, France are on -2 and Russia -4. If goal difference is level then goals scored is the next criteria. One thing is certain, no games will end in penalty kicks.

Group A decider
The only issue of doubt in Group A concerns who will finish in first place. Germany's superior goal difference means they will finish top if they draw with Spain, and similarly third spot would be Switzerland's if their game with Finland finishes level.

The following criteria are used to determine who progresses should teams finish a group on level points:
a) Number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question.
b) Goal difference resulting from the matches among the teams in question.
c) Number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question.
d) If two teams still finish equal on points, with the same goal difference and having scored the same number of goals, the winners of the match between the two teams in question will be declared as the higher-ranked team. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to g) will apply.
e) Results of all group matches:
1. Better goal difference
2. Higher number of goals scored
f) Fair play ranking of the teams in question (final round only).
h) Drawing of lots.
