Lineup for Hungary complete

Seven teams booked their places in the 2005 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship to join hosts Hungary.

Seven teams booked this weekend their places in the 2005 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship, where they will join hosts Hungary.

Champions eliminated
Germany, France, Russia, England, Finland, Switzerland and Scotland all sealed qualification after topping their second qualifying round groups. However, Spain will not get the opportunity to defend the title they won in Finland last July after they were eliminated by France in Group 7.

German favourites
Finland, last season’s hosts, will be there after edging out the Netherlands in Group 3, but Germany will be the favourites to claim their fourth title in six years. Silvia Neid’s side brushed aside their Group 1 opponents as they look to add the European crown to the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship trophy they lifted in Thailand in November.

Swiss success
Germany went into Saturday afternoon's round of matches with a final berth already guaranteed but won their last Group 1 game anyway, as did Switzerland in Group 6. Russia also won all three of their games, scoring 14 goals and conceding just one – with three minutes of their last match remaining – in the process.

British hopes
The tightest section was Group 2, which England narrowly edged on goal difference after finishing level with Norway and Italy on six points. For the first time, they will be joined in the finals by Scotland, after Tony Gervaise's side finished top of Group 5.

Hungary championships
The championship will be held in venues in Hungary between 20 and 31 July. The eight teams will be split into two groups with the top two of each going on to contest the semi-finals. The final will then take place on 31 July.
