Coaches expect intense finale

Friday's results left Group B in the balance, with Russia's Valentin Grishin predicting an exciting finish.

Group B took another twist on Friday as Russia recovered from an opening 4-0 loss to France to defeat England 2-1 and join them on three points. The French recorded their second victory in seeing off Scotland 3-1, and now need a draw against the English on Monday, when Scotland play Russia, to advance to the last four as pool winners. Mathematically, all four teams can still reach the semi-finals. uefa.com catches up with the four coaches involved.

Valentin Grishin, Russia
It was a different match than against France and the game obviously went better for us but this is usual: we typically have a catastrophe in the first game and then recover in the next! Elena Morozova played well for us, especially since she is not in the best condition having had a hard few weeks with her club. I am sure France will play to their maximum against England - in fact everyone will play to their highest level.

Mo Marley, England
Our strategy was to go out to win this game like any other but it didn't work for us in the first half so we made changes and came up with a different game plan at half-time. Towards the end we were almost settling for a draw and perhaps it is a bit harsh to lose to a late penalty as I thought on our second-half performance we deserved something out of the game. The Russians had to win the game so they were quite attack-minded and their gamble paid off. They pushed us high up the pitch but by half-time we identified that and pushed our full-backs further forward - hence we got the equaliser and a lot more attacking play. We have told the girls it is not the end of the world and of course we have another game to play.

Stéphane Pilard, France
It was not an easy game for my players because the Scottish played with great passion and also scored the opening goal. We were able to dominate the game as we have players who are tactically, physically and technically better, but we also had to work hard for the win. I'm very happy to earn maximum points, although I expect a very tough third game.

Tony Gervaise, Scotland
Our most important aim in this tournament is to learn. The best part of the game for us was when we were in front. As it went on we could see that they were a bit faster and stronger then us, but I can't say that I'm disappointed as we did what we could. The only problem with our play was that we gave the ball away very easily - we should have kept it more to make it easier for ourselves. We had a great chance at the end and maybe it would have been different if we could have scored from that.
