Article body
Despite Finland and Germany qualifying for the semi-finals with one round of games to play on Monday following respective 2-0 and 5-2 victories against Hungary and Switzerland, there remains plenty at stake when Group A concludes. While the two teams with maximum points vie for top spot in Buk, the hosts and Swiss will square off in Zalaegerszeg knowing maximum points could bring them a play-off for next summer's FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship. uefa.com rounds up the reaction from the four coaches involved in last night's games.
Jarmo Matikainen, Finland
Of course I'm very happy with the result as we knew it would be difficult and different from the game against Switzerland. I am especially happy with the way we held our nerve and controlled the game and I think 2-0 was a fair result as we had more chances to score. That was a big game for us. It's always a nervous time when you're missing chances and we had plenty, especially in the second half. You have to kill the game off. All credit to Hungary, they were very skilful and dangerous on the ball. It is something massive for us to reach the world championship: we are a small country which is small in football terms, especially women's football. This gives hope to small nations that they can achieve something big.
Edina Markó, Hungary
It would have been better for us to play the first match against Finland because we were very tired - mentally in the first half and physically in the second. It's still our goal to make women's football more popular in this country and I think we will finally achieve that with this tournament. A week ago I never thought we would play such a good game against Germany and would have been disappointed not to get a draw against Finland, but we can still compete for third place.
Maren Meinert, Germany
I think we played really well although I'm not satisfied with the way we allowed them to score their two goals. Our offensive play was very good but we had a lot of trouble stopping their No5 and No14 from scoring - they are really good players who gave us a hard time. It was a quality game because Switzerland has a quality team. I watched their game against Finland on TV and saw they had a really good team who I think like to play football the way we do. I have some players who are really tired because we are not in the new season yet and two games in three days is a lot. I need to wait before deciding which is the best side for the next game.
Claudio Taddei, Switzerland
The players reacted well from the game against Finland even though Germany won by three goals. Their vital third goal was from a free-kick which took a deflection: maybe if we could have held it at 2-2 longer then it would have been a different result. It's good for the players to have a chance to go for the world championship, meaning there's still some hope going into the final game. We'll do everything we can against Hungary as we have a chance to qualify for Russia. We are hoping that Russia will win [against Scotland in Group A] and if they do we will send them flowers and chocolates.
