Hosts Switzerland made an emphatic start to their UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship campaign with a Group B victory against the Netherlands that could have been even more comfortable than the final scoreline.
Sarrasin strike
Cheered on by 1,020 fans in Winterthur, Switzerland dominated from the outset and were unfortunate not to be ahead by half-time. However they were not disheartened and just past the hour mark made their breakthrough thanks to a fine solo effort from Maeva Sarrasin.
Meyer clincher
Twelve minutes later Isabelle Meyer made it two as she connected with a cross from the right and put the ball into an empty net. Switzerland now have the chance to put one foot in the semi-finals on Thursday when they take on holders Russia, who were defeated 4-1 today by France, the next opponents for the Dutch.
