Torske warmed by Iceland trip

The Norway coach Jarl Torske was "over the moon" after an 88th-minute goal earned his side a return to the Women's Under-19 finals after a three-year break.

The Norway coach Jarl Torske is looking forward to "concentrating on the finals in Iceland" after an 88th-minute goal in their final qualifier earned the Scandinavian side a return to the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship following a three-year break.

'Over the moon!'
Norway were two minutes from elimination when Elise Thorsnes scored against Denmark to earn her side a point, and the final berth in the July finals as the runner-up with the best record against the teams finishing first and third in their mini-tournament. Torske, who guided a superb Norway team to the final in 2003, said: "I'm over the moon! We were unsure about the qualifying rules, but we are very happy - the ball rolled in our favour this time. Now we can concentrate on the finals in Iceland. The Norwegian league starts at the weekend, and that's important because it gets the players even more match fit."

Denmark confident
It was Denmark that won the group on goal difference, however, and will travel to Reykjavik with confidence high. Their coach Henrik Lehm said: "It's fantastic that a small nation like Denmark can qualify for the finals two years in succession, and after two tough group stages. Our next goal is to get a good result in Iceland and qualify for the 2008 [FIFA U-20 Women's] World Cup in Chile. This EURO - and hopefully the World Cup - will undoubtedly do a lot for the development of young talent in Denmark."
