England ecstatic after Norway win

The superlatives flowed from the England camp, ranging from "brilliant" to "ecstacic", after Mo Marley's youngsters booked their place in Sunday's showpiece.

England scorers Elizabeth Edwards and Ellen White were "ecstatic" after Mo Marley's team sealed a final date against Germany with a 3-0 victory over Norway that sparked delirious celebrations.

Edwards joy
"I'm ecstatic, it's just amazing," said White, who scored twice in an electric display to set up a win capped by a stunning late strike from Edwards. With Norway stretched as they sought the lifeline of a goal, the England No14 capitalised on space in midfield 12 minutes from time before unleashing an unstoppable drive high into the net from 25 metres. "I just went to hit it – it was the first thing that came into my head," said the diminutive 18-year-old. "I practise long shots sometimes in training and nine times out of ten I miss."

White modesty
She did not miss at the KR-Völlur Stadium, however, and England as a team have not missed much at the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship. A sluggish start against Poland was forgotten as they secured impressive back-to-back victories against France and Spain. Marley's side then hit another gear in Thursday's semi-final, when White proved too hot to handle for Jarl Torske's team. "My job is to run hard," the Chelsea LFC winger said, adding modestly that "the team make the goals and I'm just there to put them in".

'I'm ecstatic'
White and Jessica Clarke provide the width for a side showing great industry, with Edwards, Danielle Buet and Remi Allen forming a formidable midfield engine room. "I enjoy it, we all do," said Edwards. "We all have our jobs, know what we're doing and all work hard for each other. We are comfortable with how we play." Germany will attempt to upset the balance when the teams meet in Sunday's showpiece but for now the players are content to dwell on their semi-final triumph. "I'm ecstatic, it's just amazing," said White. "It's the best feeling in the whole world."
