Bellissimo. It's the first time we get through to the final at youth level so it's beautiful, exhilarating. It's very important and a great reward for all the work we've done in the women's game in Italy over recent years. We were fortunate to have qualified for the semi-finals with a game to spare so against Spain we could rest some important players. We lost, but we don't care. Instead, we had players in good condition for this game while Sweden's players perhaps had to fight. We had two days more recovery and that's important as we were quick and strong. I'm going to the other semi-final now. Who would I prefer to face? Ask me afterwards.
Calle Barrling, Sweden coach
Italy definitely deserved to win. In other games we have scored when we've played well but today that didn't happen. When they scored the first goal, from a terrible mistake from our back four, all energy drained out of us. It's the fourth game in a week and they took a bit of our energy. If we'd scored first it would have been different. In the second half we had to gamble a bit, push a bit harder and they punished us. We made mistakes but we were tired.
It was Italy's day today. I didn't think their ability to rest players would make a difference but maybe it did – we looked tired. We couldn't really cope with it in the second half. [Italy] were tired too but they got their energy from our girls. I'm definitely happy with our performance here overall though. We really have five or six players for the future and that's the main goal really. There are girls here we didn't expect so much from but they have lifted what we thought of their ability and that's good to notice. It looks good for the future.
