A stoppage-time goal from Korea DPR's Ri Ye Gyong ended French final hopes while Germany lost 1-0 to the United States as both European teams were eliminated from the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup semi-finals in Chile.

Last-gasp goal
France took the lead in the 51st minute when Nora Coton-Pelagie followed up her own shot off the crossbar to slot the ball in. However, midway through the second half, Korea DPR responded through Ri Un Hyang who powerfully headed in a Kim Chun Hui cross. France hit the woodwork twice in the last ten minutes, but it was the 2006 winners who struck the vital blow when Ri Ye Gyong ghosted into the area to side-foot the winner. The holders went on to lose the final 2-1 to the US, however, their opponents having booked their place in the showpiece after Sydney Leroux's 21st-minute goal was enough for victory against Germany in the last four.
