Holders Sweden face a tough challenge if they are to defend their UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship title after being paired with four-time winners Germany and Nordic rivals Finland and Norway in Group B.

Denmark, France and neighbours England await hosts Wales in Group A for August's final tournament, but it is perhaps Sweden's match-up with Germany that catches the eye. Calle Barrling's charges barred Germany's path to last summer's tournament, the game's dominant force failing to qualify for the finals for the first time; Sweden went on to triumph in Turkey, but their defence looks harder now.

Group matches for the first UEFA finals for the Football Association of Wales (FAW) will be played on 19, 22 and 25 August at venues in Llanelli, Carmarthen and Haverfordwest. The top two go into the semi-finals on 28 August, with the final three days later at Llanelli's Parc y Scarlets.

The draw, conducted by UEFA head of women's and futsal competitions Mikael Salzer, was made by former Wales forward John Hartson and Sheila Begbie, third vice-chairwoman of the UEFA Women's Football Committee. It took place in Llanelli at half-time of the FAW Women's Cup final as Cardiff City LFC beat Cardiff Metropolitan Ladies FC 3-1 to retain the trophy.
