England lost to the FIFA Women's World Cup hosts in their last friendly before next month's tournament.

'Tough game'
China struck after a mix-up in the England defence and although the visitors fought back the nearest they came to scoring was when Eniola Aluko had a goal disallowed for offside. England manager Hope Powell said: "The goal we gave away was a silly one...but we outplayed China at times and didn't deserve to lose - in a tough game our girls looked just as fit and strong as the Chinese players." England's campaign starts against Japan on 11 September with fixtures against Germany and Argentina to follow.
