Real Betis Balompié striker Alfonso Pérez could miss the UEFA Cup second-round tie against Czech side FK Viktoria Zizkov after he was sidelined with an ankle injury.
Alfonso has been told to rest for two weeks after tests on his ankle revealed a slight tear in his achilles tendon. A Betis official said the problem was "small but very painful".
The 30-year-old will undergo a second examination in a fortnight, casting doubt over his participation in the first-leg tie in Prague on 29 October. He is expected to miss the league games against RCD Mallorca and RC Recreativo de Huelva on 20 and 27 October.
Betis suffered a further blow with the news that midfield player Benjamín Zarandona will be out for at least a month after surgery on a longstanding groin injury.
