Ankle injury
The 22-year-old has reached the end of a six-month loan from Club Almagro in his homeland, although there was the option of a five-year contract if all had gone well. However, Nieto found first-team opportunities limited at Ibrox, partly because of an ankle ligament injury, and made just one start in six appearances.
Boyd signing
"He's had a tough time with injuries and I've not had nearly long enough to look at him," Rangers manager Alex McLeish said. "So he will go back and we'll look at other players." The Scottish champions have just signed Premier League top scorer Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock FC while Croatia striker Dado Pršo is nearing full fitness again.
