Still hopeful
The 33-year-old Kristinsson has 98 caps but will reach his century if picked for both games, which are crucial to Iceland's hopes of reaching next year's finals in Portugal. Asgeir Sigurvinsson's men are fourth in Group 5, trailing Germany, Lithuania and Scotland by four points.
Bergsson involved
Iceland will welcome the Faroe Islands on 7 June before travelling to Kaunas to take on the Lithuanians four days later. Also selected is another veteran defender, Gudni Bergsson, the 37-year-old who retired from club football after helping Bolton Wanderers FC retain their place in the English Premiership earlier this month.
Experienced squad
Sigurvinsson has gone for experience throughout the squad with all the players having more than 20 caps except for Marel Baldvinsson, Johannes Karl Gudjonsson, Ivar Ingimarsson and Indridi Sigurdsson. Missing from the group, however, is Eyjolfur Sverrisson of Hertha BSC Berlin who has a knee injury.
