Grim prognosis for Juventus striker Amauri

Juventus forward Amauri is not expected to play again in 2010 after the 30-year-old sustained a tear to the collateral ligaments in his left knee in training.

Juventus coach Luigi Delneri will have to do without Amauri for his side's last two UEFA Europa League games after the striker suffered a serious knee injury.

The 30-year-old pulled out of training on Thursday and subsequent scans revealed a tear to the collateral ligaments in his left knee. Amauri was sidelined with a left thigh strain in August and a right ankle injury in September, and has now been ruled out for six to eight weeks after further tests on his knee.

The forward therefore misses the UEFA Europa League Group A matches away to KKS Lech Poznań and at home to Manchester City FC, with Juventus knowing a defeat or a low-scoring draw in Poland on 1 December could mark the end of their European campaign. Brazilian-born Amauri was capped by Italy in August.
