Striking options
The 22-year-old Serbia and Montenegro striker has agreed a contract until summer 2006 after failing to hold down a regular place at the Dutch club. He is expected to compete for a starting berth with Dimitar Berbatov and Andriy Voronin, with Leverkusen having seen Brazilian forward França leave for Kashiwa Reysol in Japan.
Matthäus recommendation
Lazovic joined Feyenoord two years ago from FK Partizan in his homeland and played a total of 41 times in the Eredivisie, scoring nine goals. Former German international Lothar Matthäus, who coached Lazovic at Partizan, reportedly recommended that Leverkusen acquire his services.
