"This was a crazy match," said Jonatan Soriano after scoring one of the extra-time goals that earned FC Salzburg a 2-0 Austrian Cup final win against FK Austria Wien.

FC Salzburg secured a second successive domestic double, extra-time goals from Jonatan Soriano and Felipe Pires securing a 2-0 Austrian Cup final victory against FK Austria Wien.

Adi Hütter's side had dominated to begin with, Valon Berisha heading their best chance just wide, but the dismissal of goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi just before half-time handed the initiative to Austria Wien.

However, with no goals in normal time, Salzburg took the lead on 96 minutes, Soriano pouncing on a slip from midfielder James Holland to finish. Pires then applied the finishing touch to a counterattack ten minutes later to put the tie beyond the capital side.

"When you are a man down for nearly 80 minutes and you score twice, you deserve to win," an ecstatic Hütter said. "It was our goal to defend the double and I am extremely proud of how the team performed."

Soriano added: "This was a crazy match – that's exactly what a final should be like."
