Inter Milan have an advantage to defend on home soil as Bayern München come to San Siro trailing 2-1 in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Inter substitute Davide Frattesi struck the decisive blow of the first leg in Munich two minutes from time, just three minutes after Bayern's own replacement Thomas Müller had cancelled out Lisandro Martínez's fine 38th-minute finish for the visitors.

Inter – Champions League winners in 2010, when they beat Bayern in the final in Madrid – recorded a 4-1 aggregate defeat of Feyenoord in the last 16 to reach the quarter-finals for only the second time in 14 seasons and are now aiming for a second semi-final in three seasons.

Bayern, who claimed their sixth European Cup in 2020, reached a sixth successive quarter-final with a 5-0 aggregate defeat of German champions Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16, although they have lost at this stage in three of the last four seasons.
