UEFA.com offers Fantasy managers a helping hand with some captaincy suggestions for the second legs of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Denzel Dumfries, Lamine Yamal, Ousmane Dembélé and Mikel Merino are the quartet being considered for the armband on Matchday 16 of #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.
TUESDAY 6 MAY
Denzel Dumfries (€5.5m) vs Barcelona (H)
After missing Matchdays 13 and 14 through injury, Dumfries returned to Champions League action in the first leg and delivered a memorable performance. The Inter wing-back scored twice having set up the first goal in a 3-3 draw at Barcelona, earning the Player of the Match award and a Fantasy score of 19 points. Owned by just 5% of Fantasy managers at the time of writing, the attack-minded Dumfries represents both a valuable differential and a tempting captaincy option on Matchday 16.
Lamine Yamal (€7.4m) vs Inter (A)
Yamal also delivered a standout performance in the first leg, the teenager hitting the crossbar twice in addition to scoring a stunning goal for Barcelona. With a higher Fantasy ownership than any other player, Yamal has five goals, three assists and two Player of the Match awards in this season's Champions League. Potentially playing another key role when Barcelona contest the second leg in Milan, the young Spaniard is set to be a popular captaincy choice among Fantasy managers.
Other options: Marcus Thuram (€7.6m), Raphinha (€7.9m), Ferran Torres (€6.7m)
WEDNESDAY 7 MAY
Ousmane Dembélé (€8.6m) vs Arsenal (H)
Few players have enjoyed a more productive 2025 than Dembélé, who scored the only goal in Paris' first-leg victory at Arsenal. That was the fourth successive Champions League fixture in which the Frenchman has either scored or provided an assist, helping him to 11 goal involvements in Europe this season. Dembélé features in almost a third of all Fantasy teams, although he will need to recover from a knock sustained in the first leg.
Mikel Merino (€7.0m) vs Paris Saint-Germain (A)
Even though he played in midfield, Merino still proved to be an attacking threat for Arsenal in the first leg and was a disallowed goal away from his sixth attacking return in five Champions League outings. The Spaniard, owned by 3% of managers at the time of writing, has four goals and four assists in his last ten club starts. With team-mate Thomas Partey back from suspension in the second leg Merino could be pushed further forward again, increasing his Fantasy potential.
Other options: Achraf Hakimi (€5.7m), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€7.6m), Bukayo Saka (€9.0m)
