UEFA invites proposals for the Research & Monitoring Programme

UEFA has the pleasure to announce that it is inviting bids for the provision of its Research & Monitoring Programme from suitably qualified suppliers in relation to all UEFA competitions for the following:
• 2018-21 club competitions rights cycle
• 2018-22 national team competitions rights cycle.

The Research & Monitoring Programme includes the following modules:
- Audience research and reporting
- Consumer research
- Brand research
- Programme and internet broadcast compliance monitoring
- Commercial exposure
- Valuation services.

Additional services include web and social media analytics, internet market and media intelligence (including search and apps), consumer research panels, data aggregation, reporting and sharing platforms.

UEFA has appointed two agencies:
• TEAM Marketing AG as its exclusive marketing agency for the exploitation of certain media and commercial rights relating to certain UEFA club competitions.
• CAA Eleven Sàrl as its exclusive marketing agency responsible for the exploitation of certain media and commercial rights relating to certain UEFA national team competitions.

UEFA, with support from TEAM Marketing AG & CAA Eleven Sàrl, will be responsible for overseeing the request for proposals (RFP) process and will be the main point of contact for all bidders in relation to further information, submissions, and any subsequent contractual negotiations.

In order to receive the RFP documentation, prospective bidders are requested to include the following information in their initial e-mail:

- Full corporate name
- Address, telephone number and fax number of registered office and principal place of business
- Address, telephone number and fax number of bidder nominated contact person
- Details of similar contracts currently held.

The RFP process will open on 6 November 2017 and all offers must be submitted by 17:00CET on 15 January 2018.

Molten becomes Official Matchball Supplier of the UEFA Europa League

UEFA has announced that the Japanese sports ball manufacturer Molten Corporation has signed a three-year agreement to become the Official Matchball Supplier of the UEFA Europa League. The partnership will start as of the 2018/19 season and run through to, and include, the UEFA Europa League Final in 2021.

The UEFA Europa League involves clubs from 55 countries across Europe and each season attracts a global cumulative TV audience of one billion across all programming. The world’s largest professional club football competition will be the highest priority for Molten’s global football business. The collaboration will provide Molten with global exposure to showcase the high quality and performance level of its footballs.

Nissan renews UEFA Champions League Partnership

UEFA today announced the extension of Nissan’s partnership of the UEFA Champions League for the 2018-21 cycle. The agreement also includes the UEFA Super Cup in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
 
Since becoming an Official Partner of the UEFA Champions League in 2014, Nissan has been extremely active, leveraging their rights across a multitude of markets and a variety of communication platforms. As part of the extended agreement, Nissan will work with UEFA to present the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour; providing fans across Europe with a unique opportunity to get close to the iconic trophy. In addition, Nissan’s existing ‘Goal of the Week’ digital promotion, which allows fans to vote for their favoured goal each match week, will be further enhanced while continuing to offer a chance to win exclusive UEFA Champions League prizes. UEFA Invitation to Express Interest in hospitality sales rights for UEFA EURO 2020™

UEFA has published an Invitation to Express Interest (ITEI) to hospitality companies worldwide wishing to participate in a tender for global exclusive corporate hospitality sales rights for UEFA EURO 2020™.

UEFA EURO 2020™ will take place in the summer of 2020 and will be hosted by 13 host cities across Europe. Building on the success of the previous tournaments, UEFA is looking to provide corporations and individuals with an attractive hospitality offering for UEFA EURO 2020™.

The ITEI invites companies to express interest in assisting UEFA in its global Corporate Hospitality Sales and Marketing Programme for UEFA EURO 2020™. UEFA has identified two possibilities for this programme, with one being Global Exclusive Sales and Marketing Rights and the other being Global Exclusive Sales, Marketing and Production Rights, including the organisation and provision of catering services.

Interested companies must submit their declaration of interest to UEFA by 20 September 2017 and, if selected to participate in the tender process, have to submit their offer by 2 November 2017.

Kia Motors becomes Official Partner of the UEFA Europa League

UEFA has announced one of its long-standing partners, Kia Motors, has signed a 3-year agreement to become an Official Partner of the UEFA Europa League. Their sponsorship of one of UEFA’s most prestigious European club football competitions will commence in time for the start of the 2018/19 season and run through to, and include, the UEFA Europa League final in 2021.

The UEFA Europa League involves clubs from 55 national associations from across Europe and each season attracts a global cumulative TV audience of 980 million across all programming. As the world’s largest professional club football competition, this partnership will provide Kia Motors with an opportunity to increase their global brand awareness, to build consumer loyalty and to engage with automotive dealers across Europe. 

In addition, Kia Motors will work together with UEFA to create the first UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour. This will give fans across the world the chance to see the prestigious trophy and meet some of the legends of the game. As one of a select number of sponsors of the competition, Kia Motors will also gain maximum exposure through the assets they receive, both on and off the field of play, to enable them to reach a global consumer audience.

Volkswagen joins as new mobility partner for UEFA national team football competitions

UEFA and Volkswagen are delighted to announce a new partnership for UEFA national team football competitions running from 2018 until 2022, including UEFA EURO 2020.

To mark its 60th anniversary, UEFA EURO 2020 will take place across 13 European countries, allowing more fans than ever to experience top quality national team football across the continent. This new partnership, centred on mobility, will help fans across Europe to connect and enjoy the tournament.

2018-21 UEFA club competition licensing rights sales


UEFA has the pleasure to announce that it is inviting proposals for the unbranded ‘Apparel and Novelty Product’ licensing category for the 2018/2021 Club Competitions cycle.  This involves the delivery of all contracted unbranded apparel and novelty products for the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL), UEFA Super Cup (USC), UEFA Futsal Champions League (UFC) and UEFA Youth League (UYL).

In order to avoid confusion, unbranded products are forbidden from featuring any manufacturer branding anywhere on the product or packaging, or in related promotions.

UEFA’s official retail partners will offer additional channels to market these products, such as the Official UEFA Club Competition Online Store, and the On-site Merchandising Programme Partner.

The Apparel and Novelty product category covers various programmes including:

UCL and UEL Unbranded Products - a range of apparel, gift and souvenir, home textiles and tableware products featuring the competition core brand. Commercial partners, UEFA and clubs can purchase products from the Apparel and Novelty partner and resell them through any retail channel.

UCL and UEL Unbranded Club Products - a range of at least five different categories, in a catalogue, which participating clubs can purchase products from the Apparel and Novelty partner and resell them through club channels.

UCL and UEL Unbranded Final Products – the onsite merchandise partner will sell at least five different categories of UCL Final Unbranded Products.

Below are some of the key products relating to this category, but please be aware that the final product list and the level of exclusivity associated with the merchandise will only be confirmed during the sales process and must be aligned with the ‘On-site Merchandise Partner’ agreement:

Apparel products – includes, but is not restricted to, sports clothing and apparel (sports inspired ‘lifestyle’ ranges), sports footwear (including sports inspired ‘lifestyle’ ranges), sports bags, sports scarves, caps, pennants and flags.

Novelty products – includes, but is not restricted to, pins (plastic), USB memory sticks, lanyards, mugs, money boxes, vacuum flasks/bottles, party kits, air fresheners, plastic cups, teddy bears and bedding.

• Please note that UEFA’s ‘Trophy Replica’ partner can also produce key rings, pins and certain other variants of the products listed, but these products must bear a 3D and/or half-cut 3D trophy present.

Proposals are invited from suitably qualified suppliers with experience of working with sports organisations on a similar licensed product programme.

Interested parties must demonstrate a logistical network capable of providing a full global fulfilment of products, quick response capabilities on product orders (often only a two-day turnaround), and the necessary in-house production standards and capabilities. Active relationships with football clubs across Europe maybe taken into consideration.

UEFA has appointed TEAM Marketing AG as its exclusive marketing agency for the exploitation of certain media and commercial rights relating to UEFA Club Competitions. TEAM Marketing AG are responsible, on behalf of UEFA, for overseeing the bidding process and will be the point of contact for all bidders in relation to all requests for further information, comments, questions and submissions, and in relation to any subsequent contractual negotiations.

The respective rights will apply for the 2018 – 2021 cycle.
