UEFA has reached agreement with the UniCredit Group, one of Europe's leading banking groups, to become an official partner of the UEFA Champions League for the new 2009-2012 cycle, as well as for the UEFA Super Cup in 2009, 2010, 2011. UniCredit joins Heineken and Sony as the third official partner of European football's most prestigious club competition for the period between 2009 and 2012.

Three-year deal
The European game's governing body said on Wednesday that the three-year deal will run until the end of the 2011/12 season, and will see UniCredit leverage the sponsorship through their exclusive product category: banking services and products. Payment systems are not included in UniCredit's product category.

Presence and strength
"I am delighted that UniCredit is becoming an official partner of the UEFA Champions League for 2009 to 2012," said UEFA general secretary David Taylor. "UniCredit is a leading bank in Europe and their presence and strength in Europe, particularly in eastern Europe, will help further establish the UEFA Champions League brand in these markets.

Passion for football
"We are confident that the UEFA Champions League, as a premier sporting event, will assist UniCredit in sharing their passion for football with the fans and in building and enhancing their brand awareness and identity."
