UEFA is bringing the UEFA Champions League to new and emerging markets through a series of exclusive fan events taking place across the globe. UEFA Champions League ambassador Luís Figo will attend the events in Mumbai, Shanghai and Rio de Janeiro.

Each event will be designed with a bespoke set-up, lending itself to local cultures and inviting fans to immerse themselves in the excitement of the competition:

Mumbai, India – Friday 8 March

  • In Mumbai, fans will be challenged to a 'Best of the Best' quiz to test their football knowledge against 2002 European champion Luís Figo. The lucky winner will get an exclusive photo of themselves with Portuguese star Figo and the iconic trophy.

Shanghai, China – Thursday 11 April

  • Supporters in Shanghai will hear first-hand analysis and insight from Luís Figo as he reviews the first-leg matches of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and discusses what to expect from the all-important return legs.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Wednesday 1 May

  • The event series will culminate in Rio, with local fans invited to the top of the iconic Bondinho Pão De Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain) for a live streaming of a UEFA Champions League semi-final and exclusive Q&A with Luís Figo.

"It's a great honour to be able to take the symbol of the UEFA Champions League to new markets around the world," said UEFA Champions League ambassador Figo. "It's great to share the excitement of this fantastic tournament with fans in India, China and Brazil – countries which already have a great passion for the game."

How to apply

UEFA and its partners will run a series of promotional campaigns delivered through digital and social media channels. The campaigns will be targeted at local audiences in each of the relevant cities. Fans in India and Brazil who engage with the promotional content will be directed to a dedicated event page at UEFA.com, while supporters in China will be directed to the UEFA Champions League's new WeChat account to sign up for a chance to win tickets.

The lucky winners will be notified by email and will need to redeem their tickets within a specified timeframe to gain access to the prestigious event. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the world-famous UEFA Champions League trophy first hand, along with iconic memorabilia from previous tournaments.

Each event will be hosted by a local master of ceremonies and will include an exclusive DJ set among a series of engaging activations from official UEFA Champions League partners.
