A new report celebrating the continued growth of women’s football throughout UEFA’s 55 member national associations is available now.
Since 2010, the Women’s Football Development Programme (WFDP) has provided associations with funding and tools to increase participation, improve standards and build infrastructure to help keep the female game growing.
This latest report picks one example from each of the 55 associations, describing its objectives, impacts and highlights to demonstrate the continued growth of women’s football.
Added value
“The Women’s Football Development Programme seeks not only to develop women’s football, but to bring added value to football as a whole,” said UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin. “This document showcases how national associations have made this possible by bringing the programme to life.”
“As a result of the outstanding success of the programme, UEFA is very pleased to continue the support provided to its member associations. We hope this document will provide inspiration for those working in women’s football in Europe and beyond.”
How can organisations and individuals benefit from reading the WFDP report?
This document will enable you to:
• see how the national associations are investing the funding
• examine WFDP investment by project type
• pick up ideas for future projects
• explore the wider development of women’s and girls’ football across the national associations.
How is the WFDP funded?
The WFDP is funded by the UEFA HatTrick programme, which since 2004 has reinvested profits from UEFA EURO tournaments to distribute funding back into European football at all levels.
The new report focuses on activity that has taken place since UEFA EURO 2016, during the fourth cycle of the HatTrick programme. In that time, there have been a total of 302 projects supported by the WFDP.
This funding will increase by 50 per cent to €33 million during the fifth HatTrick cycle, which began on 1 July 2020 and runs until 2024.
Over the next month, we will examine five of these WFDP success stories via UEFA’s official social media channels, beginning today with Armenia.
