Nationality: Scottish
Date of birth:
29 October 1940
Association president since: 2007

• An accountant by profession, George Peat spent 22 years on the board of Airdrieonians FC before becoming a director at Stenhousemuir FC. Simultaneously, his influence within the corridors of power at the Scottish Football Association (SFA), where he was treasurer, continued to grow and in 2007 he became president.

• One of his first acts was to commission a Scottish football review, headed up by former Scottish First Minister and professional footballer Henry McLeish, which was recently published. A forthright character, Peat once said that he was the "kind of guy if someone asks me a question, I will give them an answer".

• As a sign of his self-deprecating sense of humour, Peat keeps a toy dinosaur on the window ledge of his office, a playful acknowledgement of the SFA's reputation as being resistant to change. After four years in the post, Peat will step down from office in May 2011 when he will be succeeded by the current vice-president, Campbell Ogilvie.
