Ferencvárosi TC earned a goalless draw at second-placed MTK Hungária FC to preserve their five-point lead at the top of the 1. Liga championship pool.

Early disadvantage
Despite losing Dragan Vukmir to a red card after 20 minutes, as the defender was dismissed for a professional foul on Béla Illés, Ferencváros held on to secure an important draw. In contrast, MTK have now taken only one point from their last three league games.

Away win
Third-placed Újpesti TE were 3-2 winners away to Siófoki BSE, as two goals in two minutes midway through the first half from Zoltán Kovács and Péter Simek put the away side in control. Although Csaba Csordás pulled a goal back nine minutes before half-time, Ferenc Horváth restored Újpest's two-goal lead four minutes into the second period and the away side held on despite Zoltán Fülöp's late strike.

Goalless draw
In the other match in the championship group, Györi ETO FC were unable to close the gap on MTK as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Debreceni VSC.

Gyánó decisive
In the relegation pool, meanwhile, Videoton FC Fehérvár took the lead away to Zalaegerszegi TE after eleven minutes through Balázs Tóth, but the home side drew level seven minutes later as Krisztián Kenesei equalised. Gábor Földes restored the away side's lead eleven minutes after half-time, but goals in the final ten minutes from György Józsi and Szabolcs Gyánó turned the match in ZTE's favour.

Late comeback
Elsewhere, Kispest Honvéd FC drew 1-1 at home to Békéscsabai EFC, with a Norbert Kovács own goal giving the home side an early lead before Szabolcs Udvari earned a point with a second-half equaliser. Finally, Balázs Nikolov gave Dunaferr SE the lead against MFC Sopron seven minutes before half-time, but goals in the closing stages from Ilja Javrujan and Ivan Balasko gave the away side all three points.
