New coach
It was a thrilling encounter, with away side Slavia defending a ten-match unbeaten run and Sparta eager to impress new coach Vitezslav Lavicka, who replaced the sacked Jaroslav Hrebík yesterday. The point puts Sparta back on top on goal difference but FC Slovan Liberec can return to the summit with a positive result against FK Jablonec 97 on Monday.

Their reward finally came two minutes before the interval from Tomáš Jun. The 19-year-old striker, re-signed from Jablonec on Wednesday, latched on to Jan Flachbart´s pass before slotting home.

Yet Slavia never gave up at Sparta's Letná stadium and battled hard for an equaliser in the second half. The goal came five minutes before the end after 33-year-old veteran Pavel Kuka set up captain Richard Dostálek to score.
