AFC Ajax's excellent start to their title defence continued with a 3-1 win against FC Groningen.

AFC Ajax's excellent start to their Eredivisie title defence continued with a 3-1 Sunday victory against FC Groningen that kept the Amsterdam team's 100 per cent record intact.

Van der Vaart in form
Rafael van der Vaart was the man in form for Ajax, and opened the scoring in the 14th minute. He added a second five minutes from half-time, and Andy ven der Meyde contributed the third goal on 52 minutes, to inflict bottom-placed Groningen's third defeat of the season.

Roosendaal secure win
Newly-promoted RBC Roosendaal secured their first top-flight win of the season with an impressive 3-0 victory against SC Heerenveen. Henk Vos was on the mark in the second minute, and Nordin Wooter and Ebrima Sillah both added goals to take Roosendaal up to seventh place.

Roelofsen makes his mark
FC Zwolle also got off the mark on Saturday thanks to a single-goal win against SBV Vitesse. Richard Roelofsen scored the winner on 58 minutes to continue the home side's unbeaten start to the season, having dominated the match against a Vitesse side that had defender Dejan Stefanovic sent off in added time.

NEC hold firm
NAC Breda were held 0-0 by NEC Nijmegen in a game of few chances. NEC goalkeeper Dennis Gentenaar was on fine form, but was beaten on 70 minutes by Orlando Engelaar, only for the NAC player's shot to cannon off the post and away to safety.

Late victory for Roda
Willem II's unbeaten start came to a dramatic end with a 1-0 defeat against Roda JC. Yannis Anastasiou struck with just two minutes remaining to secure Roda's first victory of the season, having drawn their opening pair of fixtures.

Waalwijk keep run going
RKC Waalwijk had a brief spell on top of the table after a thrilling Friday night win against FC Twente. Waalwijk went ahead through Rick Hoogendorp on 42 minutes, only for Twente's Ellery Cairo to equalise immediately with a superb solo effort. Hoogendorp made it 2-1 on 79 minutes with a 25-metre free-kick, but Twente managed to level again through Khalid Sinouh. But Waalwijk's 100 per cent winning record was maintained with Eddy Putter's late winner from Zeljko Petrovic's cross.
