Twisted knee
The 25-year-old Cameroonian international forward twisted his knee in training on Monday, and after the joint swelled up, underwent surgery on Thursday. He is expected to have to wear a knee brace for the next six weeks before beginning a rehabilitation programme.
'Torn ligaments'
"It was found that Job had torn both his lateral meniscus and his lateral ligament within the knee joint," said the English Premiership club's physiotherapist Grant Downie. "Both injuries were repaired during the hour-long operation."
Injury woes
Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren, already without first-choice central defenders Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu, right-back Stuart Parnaby and Italian striker Massimo Maccarone, was disappointed with this latest injury setback.
'Huge blow'
"It's bad news for us," McClaren said. "We're getting no luck with injuries at the moment. On a personal note it's a huge blow for Joseph because he has been playing well lately and he also got our winner against Everton [FC]. We'll miss him."
