Cup finalists
Achnas - who recently reached their first Cypriot Cup final - fell behind to a tremendous Koullis Pavlides strike yet were level before half-time through Borje Gjurev.
Late drama
Ashias started the second half as they did the first and restored their lead though Deboijsa Pladenovic's free-kick. But two late mistakes cost the Nicosia outfit the points, Chrysafis Chrysafi and Gjurev, in added time, securing the win for Achnas.
Champions miss out
Elsewhere, champions Omonia FC fell to their second consecutive league defeat, 3-1 against Olympiakos Nicosia FC. Marios Themistocleous put Olympiakos ahead, although his side had to wait till the 90th minute to seal the points when Slovakian striker Josef Kozlej scored his 17th goal of the season. Substitute Angelos Tsolakis made it 3-0 in time added on before Vesko Mihajlovic struck a consolation for Omonia.
Anorthosis in contention
Anorthosis Famagusta FC remain hot on the heels of APOEL Nicosia FC after a 3-1 success over relegated Doxa Katokopia FC. Kyriakos Koursaros, Savvas Parmakis and Polish forward Wojciech Kowalczyk were on target for Anorthosis, who are a point off the summit with a game in hand.
Eye on Europe
AEL Limassol FC kept their European dream alive with a 3-1 triumph at Alki FC. Alki took the lead in the 33rd minute through Marios Antooniou but AEL were back on terms before the break when Tommis Chrysostomou scored. AEL stepped up a gear after the interval with Alexis Garpozis and Josef Sebok securing the victory.
Improved form
Apollon Limassol FC's recent improved form shows no sign of abating after they eased to a 2-0 defeat of AEK Larnaca FC. They went fifth in the table after Georgi Shengelia scored a goal in each half to see off AEK.
