Espanyol move for Milosevic

Members

RCD Espanyol have completed the loan signing of Savo Milosevic from Parma AC.

Under contract at Parma
Milosevic, who is currently under contract at Parma AC, spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Zaragoza - the club he left to join Parma in summer 2000. His career has also included spells at Aston Villa FC (1995-98) and FK Partizan (1992-95), where he started out.

UEFA Cup target
In Milosevic, Espanyol coach Juande Ramos has got the second striker he was looking for to partner Raúl Tamudo as well as strengthening further a squad already boosted by such new faces as Alain Boghossian and Alex Manninger. "Espanyol are building a competitive team," Milosevic said. "I am happy to be part of this project, because our objective will be to make it into the UEFA Cup."

Five more years
Milosevic's arrival is not the only important piece of business concluded by Espanyol this week. Club president Daniel Sánchez Llibre has signed an agreement with the mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, to renew their tenancy agreement at the Estadio Olímpico de Montjuic for another five years. Espanyol will pay a yearly fee of €300,000.

New stadium
The club have played at the 56,000-capacity Olympic stadium since 1997, when they abandoned their old ground in the Sarria district of the city. However, they have bought land outside the city where they plan to have a new stadium built in time for the 2005/06 season. That said, the deal concluded today will give Espanyol more flexibility should they fail to meet that deadline.
