Lupescu rules out Dinamo return

Members

Ioan Lupescu has ruled out a return to FC Dinamo Bucuresti despite quitting Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Limited opportunities
Lupescu, who left Dinamo in November after signing a six-month deal with Al-Hilal, cut short his stay in Saudi Arabia because of his limited playing opportunities. The club's Portuguese coach, Artur Jorge, signed four foreign players this month and warned Lupescu that with a three-foreigner rule in force in the domestic league, he would not be a first-team regular.

Offers from abroad
The 33-year-old is now considering offers from clubs in Austria, Greece and the United Arab Emirates. Dismissing the possibility of joining a club in Romania, he said: "I want to play football but only abroad and it's 100 per cent certain I will not go back to Dinamo."

Eight years in Germany
Lupescu, who appeared in three FIFA World Cups with Romania, has spent the bulk of his playing career abroad, spending eight years in Germany between 1990 and 1998 with Bayer 04 Leverkusen and VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. He began his career with Dinamo and returned there in 1998.
